MedExpress Urgent Care, a neighborhood health care provider, has acquired two Linc Care locations in Lincoln from CHI Health. The centers will temporarily close for minor updates and will reopen in early August.
MedExpress and CHI Health will also launch a collaborative care initiative that will enable them to seamlessly coordinate care to enhance quality, increase patient convenience and lower costs.
The Linc Care locations at 3910 Village Drive and 5000 N. 26th St. will temporarily close in July as minor updates are made. The centers will reopen Wednesday, Aug. 9, and Friday, Aug. 11, respectively, as MedExpress. Other practices at 5000 N. 26th St., including Company Care and Autumn Ridge Family Medicine, will remain open with no service interruption to patients and will continue to operate under The Physician Network.
Many of the employees at Linc Care have been offered jobs with MedExpress. CHI Health is working to transition other employees to open positions within its system.
The new MedExpress neighborhood medical centers will care for people of all ages, providing urgent care, employer health services, and basic wellness and prevention services. Walk-in treatment is available for everyday illness and injury, including more advanced offerings such as X-rays, IVs, labs, minor surgery, stitches, and treatment for broken bones, sprains, and strains. Local employers can use MedExpress for employer health services including workers’ compensation, injury care, pre- and ongoing employment screenings, physicals, and regulatory exams. Basic wellness and prevention services offered at MedExpress include sports physicals, routine physicals, and immunizations to help Lincoln residents maintain good health.
The MedExpress and CHI Health collaborative care initiative means that care will be easily coordinated with CHI Health and its network of physicians if more advanced care is needed by MedExpress patients, while continuing to respect patient choice. This collaborative relationship is designed to serve the best interest of patients and the community, reflective of MedExpress’ and CHI Health’s shared commitment to community-based, patient-centered care. Neither MedExpress nor CHI Health has any ownership stake in the other; they remain completely separate entities.
“MedExpress looks forward expanding our presence in the Lincoln community to provide quality, convenient and cost-effective care to families and local employers,” said Fred Hinz, MedExpress regional vice president of Operations.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and coordinating with CHI Health, which shares our passion for patient-focused care. With this collaborative care initiative, we believe we will increase value for our shared patients and our community,” Hinz continued.
“CHI Health and MedExpress are excited about the partnership to coordinate care,” said Barry Hoover, M.D., interim president of The Physician Network at CHI Health. “This transition reflects a changing health care environment where systems are partnering with specialty organizations to provide the same great service to our communities and will not affect the ability of our primary care clinics to offer walk-in access to primary care services.”
The centers will be open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., with no appointment necessary. MedExpress accepts all major insurance plans and offers affordable pricing for people without insurance. The center will be staffed by a full medical team that includes customer service representatives, nurses, medical providers and radiologic technologists.
